Japanese Lantern Artwork and Installation Checklist
Use this checklist before quotation and again before sample approval so the artwork, lantern construction and installation assumptions stay aligned.
Published by Tokicraft

1. Project and site information
- Destination country, project name and intended opening or event date
- Restaurant entrance, indoor ceiling, retail display, festival or another stated use
- Site photo with dimensions, hanging height and main viewing direction
- Indoor, covered outdoor-adjacent or exposed location, with intended installation duration
- Quantity by size, artwork, color and installation zone
2. Lantern construction
| Item | Buyer provides | Tokicraft confirms before production |
|---|---|---|
| Finished size | Diameter, height and available space | Production dimensions and measurement points |
| Shape | Round, oval, elongated or reference image | Available frame direction and visible proportions |
| Surface | Paper-like, fabric or PVC preference | Actual material, color, hand and print compatibility |
| Top and bottom | Color and appearance preference | Ring, opening, handle or hanging-part construction |
| Accessories | Tassels, hooks, hanging line or other request | Included parts, material, color and packing method |
3. Artwork handoff
- Editable AI, EPS or PDF vector artwork where available
- Exact wording, spelling, language and reading direction
- Logo width, height, location and the face that should be visible
- Pantone or agreed physical color reference when color is critical
- Buyer confirmation of rights for logos, characters, fonts and supplied images
- Approval method: digital layout, printed material sample or finished lantern sample
4. Lighting and local installation responsibility
Do not assume that a lantern shade, lamp holder and completed installation are one certified system. Responsibilities and included parts must be written into the quotation and purchase documents.
| Decision | Order document should state | Local installer should verify |
|---|---|---|
| Light source | Included or not included; lamp type and position if included | Heat, clearance, replacement access and suitability for the location |
| Electrical parts | Holder, cord, plug, switch and declared ratings | Voltage, plug, local certification and electrical code |
| Suspension | Included hook, handle, wire or other part | Fixing point, load capacity, wind movement and secondary restraint |
| Spacing | Lantern dimensions and packed form | Ceiling height, walkway clearance, fire clearance and maintenance access |
5. Outdoor-adjacent exposure record
- Roof or awning coverage and distance from the exposed edge
- Direct or wind-driven rain, expected wind movement and sunlight
- Temperature range, humidity, grease, smoke or cleaning conditions
- Permanent, seasonal or short-event installation duration
- Removal and storage plan during severe weather
- Material limitation agreed in writing; avoid an unspecified waterproof promise
6. Sample, QC and packing approval
- Approved material, finished size, shape and color reference
- Artwork spelling, position, scale, orientation and appearance when lit
- Frame, top and bottom fittings, hanging parts and included accessories
- Fold, recovery, surface marks, print adhesion and agreed workmanship points
- Individual or grouped inner packing, carton arrangement, labels and carton marks
- Final quantity, shipment method, destination and written production schedule
Frequently asked questions
Is a digital artwork proof enough for production?
It may confirm layout, but a material or finished sample is recommended when color, surface texture, light transmission or curved placement is commercially important.
Who checks the voltage and installation method?
Tokicraft confirms only the components and ratings written into the order. The buyer and a qualified local installer should verify the destination voltage, plug, certification, fixing and local rules.
What should an outdoor request include?
Provide roof coverage, rain, wind, sunlight, temperature, duration and site photos. The response should state material limits rather than rely on a generic waterproof label.
Can one order contain several artworks?
Yes, subject to quantity and production review. List the quantity, size, color and artwork file for each variation so packing and labels can also be planned.
